Legal Assistance of Windsor (LAW)
Established in 1974 by the University of Windsor, Faculty of Law, Legal Assistance of Windsor (LAW) is a community legal clinic funded by Legal Aid Ontario. The Clinic is incorporated as a not for profit charitable organization. As a teaching clinic, the goal is to provide an environment in which students experience issues relating to access to justice in the context of a “storefront
clinic” in downtown Windsor. An interdisciplinary approach to the delivery of services combines the expertise of the legal and social work professions and enables staff & students to work collaboratively in developing an appreciation and understanding of the knowledge, skills and theories of practice of both professions.

The Indigenous Justice Coordinator (IJC) facilitates access to justice for Indigenous clients in Windsor-Essex. The IJC provides culturally respectful and appropriate Clinic law services to Indigenous clients.

Anti Human Trafficking Project (WECEN)
-
The anti-human trafficking project provides systemic advocacy and direct services to survivors of human trafficking (forced labour, sex trafficking, marriage trafficking), including identification of risk factors and vulnerabilities, coordination with community partners and intensive case management/support.
Gender Based Violence Program

A staff lawyer and social worker provide information, legal advise & representation as well as validated risk assessments, advocacy and support to survivors of GBV
Migrant Worker Program

Staff advocate for worker rights and migrant workers collaborate to host public legal education and cultural events

Staff and migrant workers run groups that enhance the community’s social capital

P/T lawyer provides legal information and representation

Salary: $48,960 for the 10-month articling term.
